Pao Pao Nest is our 23rd exhibit here at the Gallery at the Alternative Cafe, guest curated by another fantastic artist Kevin E. Taylor, a long time friend and fan of these young Japanese ladies.
Aya Kakeda:
Aya was born and raised in Tokyo Japan. She now works and lives in Brooklyn, New York. She likes cats, seals , and receiving postcards.
Aya has ever changing weekly obsessions, now it's Clavariaceae and the star nosed mole. Kakeda has been shown in many galleries from coast to coast, along with art magazines such as Juxtapoz and How. She has established herself in the art community through many mediums and showings, even in big names like the Macy's advertising line. Aya is now traveling throughout the country and attending receptions and has began her collaboration sessions with various artists. She also elaborates lots of theories about lot of things. When she doesn't indulge in her obsessions, she paints and draws, creating her own whimsical narratives.
Fumiha Tanaka:
Fumiha "Miha" Tanaka is an artist who grew up in four seasons and tropical countries surrounded by natures, now lives and works in Brooklyn NY. She works in various mediums from paintings, ceramics, and crochet on nature related themes. Miha has been mostly shown in California and New York, but has had many other exhibits around the country. She enjoys sharing her whimsical world with many others and knows that some people can connect with her without the use of words.
Beer, Wine, and other refreshments will be available.
